12 CJNG Cartel Members Arrested in Mexico

On Sunday, security agents arrested twelve members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Chiapas and seized their weapons, vehicles, and tactical equipment. Through his social media, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, reported that the arrest took place in the municipality of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. The operation was led by the state and General Attorney's Office (FGR), as well as the Secretariats of Defense, Navy, and the National Guard. During these actions, security elements detained '12 individuals who claimed to belong to the CJNG, seizing long and short-barreled weapons, drug vehicles, and tactical equipment,' stated García Harfuch. The official noted that thanks to these actions, 'generators' of violence are curbed, criminal 'cells (factions)' are dismantled, and the security of the People of Chiapas is strengthened. The CJNG is on the U.S. government's terrorist list, as for years it has been considered one of the most powerful in the world, alongside the Sinaloa Cartel. Since February 5, when the 'Northern Border Operation' began, agreed upon with the President of the United States to curb the 'invasion' of migrants and drugs and thus avoid the imposition of a 25% tariff on national products, Mexico has detained 9,735 people and seized 7,258 firearms.
